Facilities
The facilities of the Artificial Intelligence Lab supports research by teams and individuals.
High-Performance Supercomputers and Storage
The Lab has various servers and one Unix supercomputer for performing various computational-intensive data analyses:
- 16-core HPC host with 64 GB Ram; Windows Server 2008
- 16-core Virtual Server host, 48 GB Ram; Windows Server 20031 SMP Dell Linux Server (DellEdge 2650: 8 x 2Ghz Intel Xeon CPUs, 4GB RAM, 770MB RAID Disks, SuperDLT Tape)
- VMWare Hosting Server
- 1 Linux Storage Server (SDSC GridBrick: 2.6 TBs of RAID Storage)
- 1 SGI Supercomputer (Origin2000: 8 x R10000 CPUs, 1 GB RAM, 500 MB Disk, IRIX Platform)
- 45 TB (30 B usable) iSCSI Storage Area Network (SAN) along with 4 TB NAS Box and 2 2TB Direct Attached Storage Units
Linux/Unix Servers
The lab uses three additional Linux machines as its Web, CVS, and database servers:
- 2 Linux Dell Database Servers (DellEdge 1650: 1.8 Ghz P4, 1GB, 200GB RAID Disks, Redhat and SuSE Linux)
- 1 Linux Dell Workstation (Dell Dimension: 2.4 Ghz P4, 500MB, 120GB Disk)
Windows Servers
Eight Windows servers provide a platform for the lab's database applications:
- 2 DellEdge Windows SMP Database Servers (DellEdge 2650: 4 x 2Ghz Intel Xeon CPUs, 1GB RAM, 800 MB Disk)
- 2 Dell PowerEdge Database Servers (Dell PowerEdge: P4 2.8G CPU, 1G DDR RAM, SATA RAID 5 with 3-4 SATA Drives)
- 6 Dell Windows Database and Active Directory Servers (DellEdge 1650: 1.6-2.2 Ghz Intel Pentium 4, 1GB RAM, 250 MB RAID Disks, Windows 2000 and 2003 Advance Server)
Workstations
The lab has over 50 Windows2000/XP workstations (primarily from Dell and HP) serving as development platforms. In addition, the Lab also has 6 Alien Ware quad core workstations (see photo, above) with quad monitors and 2 TB disk storage to support intensive data collection work.
